Sudha Society Celebrates the Menstrual Hygiene Day
 
The bright yet energetic day of marvelous May began with an enthusiasm and zeal among the women. SUDHA Society celebrated International Menstrual Hygiene Day 2021. The society took up two major tasks to be done.
 
First was, Ms. Ruchi Saxena, President of SUDHA Society Foundation, Gurugram, took the initiative to go to the poor family settlements and distribute sanitary pads to women and adolescent girls, and also educated them about the importance of cleanliness during periods. There is a need to be especially cautious about cleanliness and hygiene during menstruation because carelessness can lead to many diseases. Tips for keeping hygiene maintained in periods were suggested. Around 500 women from the Basai Enclave and South City participated.
 
Mr. Gopal Krishna Bhatnagar, Chairman of SUDHA Society, advised everyone to be vigilant for their health.

Secondly, An awareness talk show on Menstrual Hygiene Day. The event was hosted online and was fruitful for the audience. The host and moderator of the session, Ms. Aashima Gandhar, welcomed the 3 panelists, Ms. Pratibha Sharma, a Nutritionist and a Yoga Instructor who shared that during cycles, the heavy labour work should be avoided, Ms. Anu Sehdev, a Diet Consultant and a Social Activist, shared views on how important diet is. She shared Magnesium, Calcium, Iron and fluids are important parts in women’s diet and Ms. Sanchi, who is a WMH Ambassador on Peesafe and Haq se Period. She shared about the sustainable ways to up the menstrual cycle and also asked the audience to celebrate when a girl enters the community of menstruators instead of creating a stigma/fear.
